Victoria Fountain at Dutch Square, A British Legacy in Melaka

Queen Victoria Fountain
is one of the last traces of the British colonial era in Malaysia. This monument represents the glorious days of the British people in Malaysia. It is located at the Dutch Square in Melaka famous landmark and a must visit place.

Similar to other structures in the city such as the Clock Tower, this fountain was built to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. The fountain was built in 1904. Surprisingly, the fountain is still working perfectly even after such a long period. Thi fountain is one of the two built by the British apart from another one at Dataran Merdeka , in front of Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad.

The fountain serves as a tempting backdrop for photographers and tourists who visit the city and a must visit and the most interesting and photogenic places for a couple to take a photgraph. It is quite similar of having a picture at Trafalgar Square in London in the environment..!!

The Queen Victoria's Fountain has become a famous market place in the city. Due to its popularity and high probability of tourists, many rickshaw riders stand beside the fountain.

Hence, if tourists are looking for a local transport, they can straightaway head towards the fountain area. Several local attractions in the city are located at close proximity from the Queen Victoria Fountain.

These attractions include Clock Tower, Dutch Square Area and Windmill Model.
